Crocus Planting Deadline Extended and RHS Britain in Bloom Judges Advert

Crocus Planting deadline has been extended to 31 July 2016.

Please see below an email from the RHS which I have been asked to pass on to you.

Do you have a passion for community gardening? Why not help the UK’s leading gardening charity, visiting Britain in Bloom finalists around the UK?

RHS Britain in Bloom currently has exciting volunteering opportunities for enthusiastic people to become Britain in Bloom UK Finals judges.

RHS Britain in Bloom is a nationwide community gardening campaign to transform cities, towns & villages and has been helping people to improve their local environment since 1964. More than 1,600 cities, towns, villages and urban communities take part each year to show off their achievements in environmental responsibility, community participation and, of course, horticultural achievement.

The campaign runs year round and participating groups report a wide range of benefits such as cleaner, greener and safer surroundings, a growing sense of community pride, and increased commercial enterprise and tourism.

Applicants should have a passion for horticulture and community gardening, enjoy working in an outdoor situation and be reasonably physically fit (the Bloom judging tour can be physically demanding). Good knowledge of plants and horticultural practice and/or environmental issues and experience working in and/or supporting volunteer-led community projects is essential.

Please read the attached RHS Britain in Bloom UK Finals Judge Volunteer Role Description for more details about the role.

We ask that Britain in Bloom UK Finals Judges Volunteers give a commitment of up to two weeks in August, staying away from home for approx. 5 days each week. In addition, to attend approx. 4 meetings per year, at least two of which will involve an overnight stay.

To apply, please complete the RHS Britain in Bloom UK Finals Judge Volunteer Application Form (an editable & savable document) and send to:
